Responsible Journalism

IMG_1616.JPGThere are certain guidelines journalists of any and all kinds are supposed to adhere to. Things like ethics, responsibility, unbiased, and truthfulness are a few that I think are most important. As a journalism student I’ve had to learn the 7 cannons of journalism that have been put together since early in its history.

More and more it seems, I see the big news players jumping on one side or another of an issue, posting partial truths in the name of claiming a story first, and putting out stories with partial truth or written in such a way that results in swaying the viewer. When did ethics and journalistic integrity become so unimportant? It’s a sad time for journalism.
